Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Habiburokhman said that the purchase of a Boeing 737 800NG jet by the Police for IDR 995.35 billion or nearly IDR 1 trillion was needed by the Polri. According to him, the procurement of the aircraft is to support Polri’s performance.
“Commission III DPR RI, myself included, in my opinion there is nothing to be concerned about with the purchase of the aircraft, the most important thing is that as a user the National Police really need it. If an aircraft is needed for personnel mobilization, assistance, equipment, whether used, new, no problem, ” said Habiburokhman in East Jakarta, Sunday 16 July 2023.
Habiburokhman explained that an institution as large as the National Police must be supported by various facilities to support performance. Especially as the 2024 political year approaches, the National Police need security for urgent situations. Bearing in mind, he continued, Indonesia is a large archipelagic country, so facilities are needed to facilitate mobility between regions.
“Where is the problem? We are an institution as big as the National Police, especially ahead of the General Election, of course we need to be equipped with facilities that can be used in urgent and urgent situations. We know that our area is an archipelago, it’s not easy. Sometimes the deployment of troops, equipment, must be fast. “It’s not easy to use regular, commercial aircraft,” he said.
Furthermore, the politician from the Gerindra party also said that there was no problem with regard to the budgeting of aircraft by the National Police. In fact, in budgeting for the aircraft, the National Police collaborated with the Supreme Audit Agency or BPK.
“I have checked the budgeting with the National Police Chief, that also involves the BPK. I have checked, there is no problem with sound budgeting, I want to add it if there is indeed fiscal space, I don’t think there is a problem and if it is needed,” he said
